Meba Microfinance Institution S.C. Opens Third Branch

Meba Microfinance Institution S.C. officially opened its third branch today, March 22, 2025, in the presence of the institution's directors, invited guests, and the institution's employees.

At the branch opening ceremony, the institution’s Board of Directors Chairman, Ato Getnet Haile, welcomed the audience and explained that when Meba was established, it was to make its contribution to the financial sector by being accessible to the community. The Chairman added that what makes Meba microfinance unique is that it not only provides loans but also provides consulting services that help borrowers become successful. He called on everyone to do their part to achieve the goals of Meba by purchasing shares and participating in the program.

The Chief Executive Officer of the institution, Ms. Azeb Mamo, for her part, sent a congratulatory message regarding the commencement of the branch. She noted that although Meba Microfinance has recently joined the industry, it has been working effectively in the short time since it started operating and called on all relevant parties to play their part so that the institution can continue to achieve its goals.

Meba Microfinance Institution S.A. has opened its third branch in the Jemo area of Addis Ababa city under the name of Jemo Michael Branch and it was indicated that it will open additional branches in Addis Ababa and the region in the future.

Meba Microfinance S.C. Holds its General Meeting of Shareholders

Meba Microfinance S.C., which recently joined the financial sector, held its first regular and first Urgent general meeting of shareholders on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Ras Amba Hotel.

The general meeting discussed and passed resolutions on the report of the board of directors of the institution, increasing the institution’s capital, the external auditor’s report and similar agendas.

The general meeting, which discussed the need to increase the institution’s capital to increase the market share of the financial institution, decided to increase the institution’s capital to 300 million birr in the coming few months. In addition, the general meeting admitted 154 new shareholders, increasing the total number of shareholders to more than one thousand.

It was stated at the general meeting that Meba Microfinance S.C. is working hard to capture the appropriate market share by employing qualified professionals with ethics and using the latest technology to provide citizens with the smooth and fair financial services they need.

The financial institution will complete the preparation process and start operating in a short time to provide technology-based services, according to the report of the Board of Directors presented at the general meeting.

The institution will continue its efforts in this regard, said the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ato Getnet Haile, who said that this will make Meba Microfinance Joint Stock Company not only an alternative but also a preferred one in the financial industry;

The Chairman of the Board of Directors announced that the Board of Directors and the senior management of the institution will focus on studying the opportunities and threats posed by the microeconomic and financial policy reforms, in order to mitigate the challenges and seize the opportunities.

The Chairman, Ato Getnet, explained that the institution has identified the following as important areas of focus: gaining sufficient market share and becoming influential in the market; increasing its capital; and increasing credit distribution through high-quality savings.

Meba Microfinance officially launched.

Meba Microfinance joined the financial sector by starting operations with two branches. It announced that It officially started working today, August 18, 2016, after receiving permission from the National Bank of Ethiopia.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Meba Microfinance Mr. Getnat Haile said during the launch program of the institution that the majority of the community in Ethiopia has not been adequately provided with access to finance.

He added that Meba Microfinance was established to provide broad-based microfinance services by improving access and service provision in the financial services sector.The chairman of the board thanked the members of the organizing committee, shareholders and other supporters who helped the establishment of the institution to be completed successfully.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ahadu Bank, Mr. Anteneh Sebsbe, who was present at the program, pointed out that solving the gap in financial services in our country should be given priority. He expressed his hope that Meba Microfinance will contribute to solving this problem and indicated that Ahadu Bank will work with Meba in the future.

Meba Microfinance Institute has started its first branch in Addis Ababa around 4 kilometers called St. Maryam Branch and the information obtained from the institution indicates that more branches will be opened in Addis Ababa and the region in the future.
